Research gambling Trust, a government-funded trust that does research on gambling habits and effects, released results of a study about the potential damaging effects of fixed odds betting in late 2014. The study examined and analysed data from 5 big bookmakers, namely, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casinous.com\">casinous<\/a><em>, Paddy Power, Coral, Ladbrokes and Betfred<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-49\" src=\"https:\/\/www.6sportsbetting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/fixed-odds-at-casino.jpg\" alt=\"fixed odds at casino\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.6sportsbetting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/fixed-odds-at-casino.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.6sportsbetting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/fixed-odds-at-casino-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.6sportsbetting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/fixed-odds-at-casino-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Conflicting findings from study<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The study has given enough fodder for debates to last a while. The various findings that were released contrast with each other and make a case both for and against gambling and, specifically, fixed-odds betting terminals (FOBTS). All the numbers talked about here are as per reports released in December 2014. Some of the statistics and interesting facts unearthed by the study are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is actually possible to separate out the harmful gamblers and non-harmful machine gamers<\/li>\n<li>Gamblers who play for high stakes and prizes in one session end up losing most of their money but also play for much longer<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Roulette\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Roulette is the most popular game<\/a>\u00a0and its sessions last an average length of 11 minutes each<\/li>\n<li>Almost 80 percent of the times, the gamblers end up losing money, at an average of \u00a37 per session<\/li>\n<li>Of the 178m session studied, about 3 percent of them were \u00a3100 stakes. However, there seems to be some cause for cheer for the time being. Instead of hasty half-baked policies to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/entertainment.howstuffworks.com\/how-to-play-roulette.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">regulate fixed odds betting and gambling<\/a>, there should be a well-thought plan implemented over the next 5-10 years is the popular sentiment.
